Dr. Roger Chams is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery and reconstruction of the knee and shoulder. He was fellowship trained at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute where he received specialized training in arthroscopic surgery of complex knee and shoulder disorders. He then introduced several innovative procedures to the area which had not been previously performed, including cartilage restoration. Dr. Chams may be one of the best, but he or his appointment coordinators have a total disregard for your time. I have made two appointments and have had to reschedule both. At the first one I was asked to wait what would have been 1 1/2 hours past my appointment. No thx, reschedule. Today after waiting 30 minutes I was told it would be another 45 minutes. No thx, reschedule. So be forewarned, ask for a 7:00 am appointment, or right after lunch, 1:00. Although I haven’t tried the after lunch wait as yet.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Chams and his Professional staff. Through all aspects of the care, from the early prep where the proposed surgical repair was explained to me, to the actual day of the surgery, Dr Chams always made the time to explain all aspects of the repair and recovery. I never felt rushed. He answered all of my questions and did not leave until I was satisfied with his answers. If there were questions post surgery, Paul Ziamba a member of his team always got back to me as quickly as possible. This was the second shoulder repair for me and in both cases I am back to my normal life. Granted ongoing PT is critical but I have been able to resume my life. His medical talent is second to none as well as his communication skills and interest that you recover. I hope you never require shoulder repair but if you do you need to call Dr. Chams!!

Check in was efficient and easy, I was in and with the Doctor within 5 minutes of arriving. Dr Chams was quick, asked questions to understand my trouble and had great input on how to correct my problems. He gave me a cortisone shot right away and scheduled an MRI to occur in a week. I'm very happy with my experience.

They take time to listen to what my problems always are. Give me options and never try to push toward surgery. I’ve been going to them for 15 plus years and I’m still playing golf and tennis. I can always trust them won’t go anywhere else.

Dr. Chams was thorough and easy to work with. While it turned out my Dads issue was not his expertise he still took time to talk with him and provide some temporary relief. He recommended someone else in the practice and we had an appointment scheduled with that doctor prior to leaving the office.

I’m really happy I chose a different doctor in this practice before giving up on Illinois Bone and Joint. After visiting Dr. Chum I felt he was very superficial and inattentive and I was worried after this visit that my son would be even more scared of doctors. I then saw a different IBJI orthopedic doctor and felt much better. We had an MRI in Arlington Heights and were very happy with our follow up care.

Dr. Charm and his PA were very nice.Dr. Charm is conservative on treatment which I appreciated.I probably won’t go back due to the fact that I feel this is a very corporate office as opposed to your Dr. actually knowing you.There are so many patients and staff and everyone was constantly moving all around you, making some aspects of checking in and out, confusing.Everything went smooth but I felt like I was on a human assembly line. There was nothing personal about it.

My teenage son had 2 planned knee surgeries with Dr Chams - one 11/2020 and the second 1/2021. From start to finish, everything was top notch. He and his staff are excellent, friendly, caring and made the whole process easy. Physical therapy @ IBJI was also top notch. Highly recommend them!

Dr. Chams is a dedicated professional that can relate to anyone. He is very educated in his craft and knows the next move. He will definitely steer you the best and right decision! There is no beat around the bush with him. He has operated on my multiple times over a 10 year period! I will be on his side the rest of my life. Good or bad I know he is the right guy for the skills he performs! You will be blessed to have met him. Little does he know many have after I recommend so many to him. I am a union local 134 Electician. We have so many brothers and sisters that have been beating there body up for years to feed there families. He can definitely keep you moving in the best way your body will except it.

Illinois Bone and Joint is a fabulous facility with top notch care takers. They take their time with you and yet keep moving with X-rays, getting the patient ready to see the doctor and finishing up any questions, concerns or follow-up. I have seen Dr Roger Chams for my shoulder. He is kind, efficient and very knowledgeable. This was a return visit after a surgery ten years ago by Dr Chams. All is looking good and would happily return for other needs and would recommend him as well as Illinois Bone and Joint.

Dr. Chams is wonderful! He took the time listen to my daughter’s story about her sore broken arm. He was able to turn my daughters tears into laughter, on such a busy day. We both were nervous about her break after being told that surgery was a possibility in our future, Dr. Chams put our minds at ease explaining how well the break would heal on its own doing a few simple things.

Dr. Chams performed two major surgeries on me: 1. Repaired & reattached almost all of the soft tissue in my shoulder due to a significant fall causing a posterior dislocation (which was dislocated much longer than it should have been due to an error made in the emergency room; after 3 days of extreme pain I finally went to see Dr. Chams, he made the CORRECT diagnosis, and made special arrangements to take care of me as a very high priority); 2. Repaired and reattached all of the quad tendons in my knee due to them being torn in another, different, significant fall. His work was extremely high quality and his concern and care for my well-being was of the highest level. I was extremely pleased with him and his entire team (PA's, scheduling staff, etc.) throughout both processes, including all of the post-op appts. I have already recommended Dr. Chams to some of my friends/co-workers and would highly recommend him to anyone that needs shoulder or knee surgery.
